Job Description:

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support product development and engineering initiatives within a medical technology and manufacturing environment.

This role works across multidisciplinary engineering teams and contributes throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept development through market release and sustaining activities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, solving complex technical problems, and collaborating with stakeholders across engineering and product development.

We are looking for a higher-level Systems Engineer who can understand the overall product architecture and how different components, including robotic systems, integrate to function as a complete system. The role involves translating system architecture and stakeholder needs into technical requirements, understanding the underlying engineering methodology, and translating those requirements into system-level testing and verification activities. MATLAB experience is preferred and may be a key requirement, as it is the primary tool used to interface with the system; candidates should be comfortable writing MATLAB code to support system integration, testing, and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide systems engineering leadership and technical support for products and projects involving multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Translate stakeholder and user needs into system concepts, requirements, and technical solutions.
  • Develop, decompose, and manage system requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain requirements traceability to support product development and verification activities.
  • Develop and evaluate system architectures and models.
  • Conduct trade studies, simulations, and technical analyses to support engineering decisions.
  • Support system-level integration and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to or lead system verification activities as appropriate.
  • Evaluate technical risks, competing priorities, and design tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment and professional expertise to resolve technical challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, processes, and practices.
  • Ability to apply engineering concepts and established procedures to solve technical problems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-driven environment.
  • Experience with requirements management, system architecture, modeling, simulation, traceability, or verification is highly relevant.

Additional Notes:

  • Focus: High-level system integration, architectural perspective, and requirement writing.
  • Design vs. Maintenance: Candidates must have experience designing electronics and controls from scratch. Those with only PLC or manufacturing robotics experience (e.g., Fanuc/Kuka) are not a fit.
  • Industry Background: Medical device experience is strongly preferred due to familiarity with 60601 standards. However, candidates from Aerospace or Space industries are acceptable if they have strong PCB and component-level design experience.
  • Technical Skills (Systems): Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink is preferred for interfacing with the system.
  • Work Style: Roles are primarily on-site to facilitate hardware lab work, though there is minor flexibility for hybrid work once tasks are established.
